Thomas C. Bavaria

    The Fr. DeNisco Council #3862 Knights of Columbus held their 56th Annual Dinner Dance on Saturday, May 8, 2010. During the dinner dance, the Knight of the Year award was presented by the immediate past Knight of the Year, John Neetz, to the 2010 Knight of the Year, Thomas C. Bavaria. State Representative Richard Grucela was also in attendance to present the award.

    Tom has been a Knight since 1967 and served in many positions as an officer and activity chairman. Tom retired from the Air Force after serving as supervision for post exchanges in Germany for 30 years and for many years in Florida. After his retirement, he served two terms as Mayor of the Wind Gap Borough. He is presently the manager of the St. Joseph Ministry in Wind Gap. Along with the Knights of Columbus and members of St. Elizabeth Parish, Tom is responsible for providing food, clothing, furniture and appliance for approximately 100 families, twice a month distributing the above items from 8 - 10 AM at the former St. Joseph Church in Wind Gap.

At the age of 89, Tom is still involved in these activities.

Tom is married to Josephine Bavaria. They have lived in Wind Gap all their lives. Tom and his wife are members of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish in Pen Argyl. Tom was an altar server in the old St. Joseph Church in Wind Gap since he was 5 years old and is now serving as a lector at St. Elizabeth's. They have a son, Thomas Jr.,. Tom Jr. and his wife Ann and grandson Thomas live in Macungie.
