Father DeNisco Council 3862 of the Knights of Columbus in Bangor presented the 2011 Knight of the Year Award to Cory Genteel of Bangor, PA. The award was presented at the Knights of Columbus 57th Annual Dinner Dance held at the Council Home on Saturday, May 7, 2011. Mr. Genteel accepted the award along with his children Sophia, Joseph, and Adrianna Genteel.

Mr. Genteel has been a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1987. He had served as President of the Home Association for 8 years, where his leadership help guide the home through a major renovation project. In addition to his involvement with the Knights of Columbus, he is a member of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel School Advisory Board, the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Usher Society, and the OLMC “Big Time” celebration committee. Also, he is a member of the Columbia Fire Company in Roseto, PA and an assistant football coach for the Blue Valley Patriots. He served in the US Naval Reserves as a medic.

Mr. Genteel’s past community involvement includes being a member of the Liberty Ambulance and Medic 9 emergency services. He attended College at the University of Scranton where he was head of the Campus Ministries and was a member of the charter class for the Physician’s Assistant Program at DeSales University where he earned his Master’s Degree and was presented an award for the Model DeSales Student.

He is the son of Joseph and Cheryl Genteel and resides with his children in Bangor. When he is not volunteering his time to the community, you can find him employed as a Physician’s Assitant at Pocono Hospital Emergency Room.
